Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE You will be the key individual within the team for overseeing all day to day activities such as auditing, incident investigation, training and inductions, review and provision of risk assessments, method statements, and statistical reporting and measurement of Health & Safety. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Monitoring and auditing of the company's health, safety, and environmental management systems, to ensure the safety of staff, contractors, and other stakeholders in line with current health, safety, and environmental legislation. • Support the Group Head of HSE in ensuring the company’s management systems comply with ISO and OHSAS UKAS accreditation standards • Provide the company’s inductions and in-house training requirements ensuring that training schedules are accurate and timely updated at all times • Support contract managers, supervisors, foreman and site managers in the management of staff and subcontractors in relation to all health, safety, and environmental matters • Oversee incident reporting and investigations ensuring incidents are efficiently and effectively investigated and corrective actions and improvement measures are proposed for implementation across the company • Oversee the reporting of key data and information to accurately timely measure leading and lagging statistics for weekly, monthly and quarterly reports identifying trends and areas for improvement • Support the Group Head of HSE in ensuring that the management systems, safety plans, policies, procedures, monitoring and reporting records are saved efficiently and effectively in Company’s designated file repository(s) and that all documentation professionally represents the company • Keep up to date with all health, safety, and environmental legislation and any other developments that affect the company advising on what action should be taken • When required support the Operational teams with client liaison on matters of health, safety, and environment • Support Business Development and Operational teams in specifying, and development of, working practices and solutions for tendering and operational activities • Support the Group Head of HSE in ensuring the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental management and sustainability solutions into policies, procedures, and operational activities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Essential • NEBOSH Certificate or above • Asbestos Awareness • CSCS Card Desirable • Qualified to deliver internal courses on Asbestos, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Face fit, Asbestos Removal, Abrasive Wheels, RAMS, and Incident investigation & Root Cause Analysis • Experience in Cultural Change programs REQUIRED EXPERIENCE • 5 years’ experience in providing health, safety, and environmental advice in the construction and building maintenance sectors REQUIRED SKILLS • A driving licence is essential • Excellent training skills to turn dry subject matter into engaging training content • Excellent coaching and communication skills to influence positive cultural behaviour from staff, contractors, and other key stakeholders • Attention to detail promoting the company in a professional way through the documentation produced • Ability to identify areas for improvement and able to provide proposals for how improvements should be implemented • Good communication and interpersonal abilities in order to explain technical, process, and procedural matters to a range of people from Senior Managers through to Tradespeople • Ability to understand and analyse data and present it simply and accurately • Good organisational, prioritisation, and motivational skills to ensure you are efficient and effective • Efficient in MS Office applications • Deep understanding of legal health, safety, and environmental guidelines
